Why Oxford Fabric Is Used for Functional Bags

Oxford fabric is a woven synthetic material widely used for products that require a balance of durability, structure, weight, and manufacturing cost. Most commercial Oxford bags use polyester fabric, although nylon Oxford is also available for applications requiring a different balance of strength, weight, and flexibility.

420D Oxford

PU coating is generally lighter and more flexible, making it suitable for products where a softer hand feel or lower finished weight is important.

PVC backing can provide a firmer structure and stronger moisture barrier, but it may also make the fabric heavier and less flexible. The appropriate option depends on the product, target market, compliance requirements, required performance, and budget.

Neither coating automatically makes a sewn bag completely waterproof. Water may still enter through the seams, zipper, needle holes, or opening unless additional sealing and waterproof construction methods are used.
